Working on a little drawing. A black and white pen piece (okay, actually sepia and white) of some birch trees. Just some inking practice really since most of my work these days is digital. Here’s a little WIP:

Hey, guys. Here’s another video work in progress, this time of an old painting I started working on again, Flying Cowboy. In it, I describe how I use the color picker in Photoshop CS5 to not choose colors as you’re working, but how to keep them integrated into the rest of the painting.

So far, I’ve only used YouTube to share videos of my son with family and friends. Now that I have the iMac, however, I can easily, as I discovered, record myself as I work/paint in Photoshop CS5. So, behold, I unleash my very first video:

Doing it Old School

For many reasons I’ve decided that I need to start doing more traditional art again. I thought it might be fun for you guys to follow along as I try and relearn traditional techniques I haven’t used in many, many years. Like watercolors for example.

I did this drawing of an American Robin drawing (5×7 in) on Watercolor paper this afternoon, and I’d like to lay in some washes of color. Nothing hardcore, just tint it a bit. And I’m terrified! I haven’t used watercolors in more than 20 years it seems like. At one time I was fairly proficient. I hope it comes back to me quickly. However, in case I totally mess up, I’ve scanned in the drawing for Photoshop coloring later.

Here’s the pencils. I’ll post the aftermath of my colors later.

(hey, at least I remembered to tape off my edges! lol)
