My dog, Fancy

My beloved Chihuahau, Fancy, has developed chronic kidney failure, and my husband and I had to make the tough decision to put her to sleep. In a few hours, I’ll have to take her to vet and pet her as she goes to sleep for the last time.

She was a great little dog. Fourteen years old, and completely devoted to me. I rescued her from a family who didn’t have the time even to potty train her when she was a year old. She was completely unsocialized, and terrified of males.

It took her a couple years, but she grew to think of my husband as her best friend, too. I know I haven’t always been the best dog owner, but I hope that she knows that I’ve always loved her.

I’m very sad today, and at 4:20 p.m. I’ll have to do the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

I hope that she finds peace, and goes to a better place knowing that she was dearly loved.
